Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Amritsar is being run by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar, a Sikh Religious body representing the entire Sikh Mankind of the World. Established in 1992, is now 25 years old. It is one of the best Dental Institute in Northern India imparting training for BDS (Bachelor of dental Surgery) and MDS (Masters Degree in Dentistry). It is a Sikh Minority Institute declared by Govt. of Punjab. In this Institute, not only world class materials and facilities are provided to the students for their training but also Religious functions, Cultural functions, Teej festival, Sports function and Free Trip to religious places are the routines which are held every year. The Students are provided with world class centrally Air-Conditioned building, best Play grounds, Swimming pool and Gym in this hostel along with neat , clean and good accommodation to its staff.
Dentistry is one of the most noble and paying profession not only in India but also in advance countries like European Countries, USA, Canada and Australia etc. This Institute is recognized by British Columbia Govt. (Canada) and B.C. Govt. preferred to send the Sikh students to pursue their Dentistry training in this Institute. Recently, delegates from New Zealand and Canada Universities visited this Institute for adding its name in their Universities at New Zealand and Canada. The results of the students of this Institute in Academics is almost 100% with securing best positions among the students of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot to which it is affiliated.
The hard working students and teachers are maintaining the top standard of this Institute for last so many years. Being a religious body’s Institute, not only Dentistry is taught in this Institute, Ethics and Values of life as taught by great Gurus, good and clean social life, simple living, clean and simple clothing and high thinking as Sikh Preachers are taught by efficient, punctual, disciplined staff of this college. Desh Bhagati (Love/ Prem for the Country) and love and affection with poor and ailing human kind of all religions (who are treated free) is taught to students as advised by President S.G.P.C. and Chairman of the Trust, S. Avtar Singh ji and blessings and advice of S. Parkash Singh ji Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab, who is also a prominent member of the Trust and whose kind hand always remain on the head of this Dental Institute. Students and Teachers also go to villages/slum areas of the city to treat (free of cost) the poor and needy patients.
The students of this Institute are well settled and are conveying good message of the great Gurus in USA, Canada, European Countries and Australia. In addition to imparting training to young graduates, Continued Dental Education Programmes are regularly held by calling Eminent Speakers from various parts of India in the field of Dentistry.
